    An edit to my first post: the app file I am trying to run from is EMPIRES2

    to Vijay

    Nothing happens when I try to run to run the game, with/without run as Admin, with/without run in XP2 compatibility mode, with Windows Features .net 3.5 and legacy modes enabled, whether I install it in XP3 compatibility mode or no compatibility mode (compatibility mode off)

    I'll just remind everyone the I'm trying the run Age of Empires II under Windows 10

    AOE 2 had issues even on Win7, but the first thing you need with a CD version of the game on Win10 is a  --- noCD fix\hack---.

    Once you are able to launch the game using a noCD fix you should be able to find a fix for any other problems that may arise.

    All disc based games that use SafeDisk copy protection (there are many) need a noCD fix due to an issue MS created on Win10.

    Thanks for attention BossDweeb.  I'm sure you have provided a solution for someone there.

    I haven't looked at your second link on DRM blocking yet but I took a look at your first link.

    It shows many items. Which do I need to click ?  Will it show me as for a simpleton (mentioned above) exactly what I need to do ?  Without this guidance the information is useless to me, I'm afraid.  Also, I understand only English.

    Sorry for being so stupid.  AoE I and AoE III and their expansion packs (all of them) worked OK.

    - It's good to hear you AOE and AOE3 are running properly. A lot of people have problems with them as well.

    Hopefully that means you will have no problems with AOE2 once you have the noCD's organised.

    AOE has no DRM, and AOE3 uses another type, so they don't have any issue running from the CD, but I've always used

    fixes with all my disc based games just to avoid having to mess with discs all the time.

    [EDIT: I overlooked the 'Collectors ed' earlier. I'm not sure the noCD's will work  with a re-release version of the game.

    The patch I linked to below should not be necessary as the re-release versions of games are generally pre-patched.

    The also remove the DRM in some re-released versions. More so if they come long enough after the original. ]


    - You need to use a fix that suits the level you have patched the game to, and in the same language. Generally it's best to patch games

    to the last available versions regardless of the noCD requirements.

    Remember to delete the 'd' at the end of the .zipd download title, or the file will not extract.

    I just had a look at the v2a English fix at the bottom of the list. As with most fixes, this is a simple .executable replacement file ( Empires2.exe ).

    Some fixes have other new files that are placed in the same folder as the games .exe, and a few other fixes have files that

    replace files other than the .exe.
    I used to back up the original .exe, but that's not much use since MS introduced DRM Blocking because you can't play the game

    with the disc in the drive anyway, so you can just move the fixed file into the folder the games .exe is in and overwrite the original.

    I generally extract the fixes files in the folder I store the .zip file in and move the fixed .exe from there (saves having to look for the .nfo to delete).

    I agree that having to insert the CD is awkward, and risks damaging the CD, so, yes I'd rather have the noCD versions for the games.  I'll have a look for noCD for the other AoE games I have.

    I had already found http://aok.heavengames.com/patches/ patches for AoK and The Conquerors.  I was hoping that they would run AoK but when I ran the exe file and installed to the AoE II folder, I got the message you have already installed this patch !  I noted the patch was pre 2001 and I think my Collector's Edition is 2005.  I assume the fix you refer to"... look at the v2a English fix at the bottom of the list." is same v2.0a patch given in aok.heavengames.com

    I found a "no CD crack" file and ran that having extracted it from the zip file, installing to the AoE II folder.  I tried running the EMPIRES2 file (compatibility mode etc on - XP2 - and it worked !  I am now in the middle of a game !  The CD is in drive, I don't know what if I removed it.

    No file I have come across has the ending ".zipd"

    Can you give similar tips for running The conquerors expansion pack, or doesn't require anything more than installing ?

    Good to hear you got the game going. You don't need to use the disc with the fix. The only reason for using the disc is for the

    DRM check. This check is what the crack circumvents. Allowing you to launch straight into the game, disc free.

    The game never references the disc after that (well not until some very clever forms of DRM that did checks later in the game,

    and put the game into unplayable slo-mo came along around 2008 or there about. )

    You would do the same with the expansion pack, and any other game that uses SafeDisc copy protection. The only difference

    would be the fixes for games that require files other than the .exe to be replaced.

    - If you download the fix from another site there would be no d at the end of the .zip file extension. That's a peculiarity

    of the site I linked to. Not sure why they add the d though. They didn't do it until... five years ago ?

    Wait a minute... I just double checked one download I didn't extract the files from previously and was able to extract the files

    without removing the d . I thought not being able to extract the files was the reason for deleting the d .

The HD AI players try to target buildings on the edge of the enemy town first (and less likely to wander into a gauntlet of enemy defenses), work its way in, and retreat if necessary. The DE AI behaves similarly to the HD AI, but is much better at staying just outside of the range of enemy defenses.
      • The CD AI will instantly demolish any building in progress if the villager building it is attacked. This was a hacky solution to the issue of AI players sending their entire population of villagers one by one to finish an incomplete building in territory that had been taken by the enemy. However, it caused at least as many problems as it solved. The HD AI only deletes incomplete buildings Ring Runner: Flight Of The Sages Full Crack too many builders die trying to finish it.

Even if you clear a shortcut through thick forest, they'll insist on taking an inefficient route until you force them to save time by walling off the options that add time to their route.       • Pathfinding can sometimes be pretty terrible, but no unit suffers more from this than the Villager.     • Petersen later pushed, for years, for an African-themed expansion with a female unit that threw knives. Which is why we ended with Malians Gbetos in The African Kingdoms, even though no similar unit existed in the Malian Empire or its predecessors.

This is so expensive, time-consuming and redundant (even for the Turks, who get free Chemistry and discount for the aforementioned techs) that the research techs for Bombard Cannons and Hand Cannoneers are eventually removed in The Conquerors.
    • For standard multiplayer games, one of the possible win conditions is building a Wonder and keeping it around for 200 (in-game) years. However, this is extremely rarely done as Wonders are insanely expensive (1000 Wood, Gold, and Stone, which could be used for an army instead), everyone is notified when you build one (not even finish it, just laying foundation), and there is an in-game counter to let everyone know how much time they have left until they lose (or win). For this reason, the "Atheism" upgrade the Huns have falls under this category, as it only serves to delay (rare) Wonder and Relic victories.
    • Monks. You would think being able to steal enemy units was a pretty awesome ability, and depending on the type of unit, you would be correct.   8. An Axe to Grind: Throwing Axemen (Franks), Berserkers (Vikings) and Woad Raiders (Celts). Being classified as the same kind of infantry, all three Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack them have bonus attack against buildings.

    • In The Conquerors, one of the scenarios, Tours, has you play as Charles Martel and defeat the Moors invading France and Spain. The later expansion, The African Kingdom, has the Tariq ibn Ziyad campaign, which has you play as the Moors and invade Spain. It ends on a triumphant note after the battle of Bordeaux, but the narrator mentions someone named Charles Martel is building a counter attack. Charles Martel would win the Battle of Tours.
    • The final mission of "The Hauteville" campaign, has Emperor Lothair III talk about his grandson and heir, "The Lion Cub". Said Grandson is Henry the Lion, of the Barbarossa campaign. Furthermore at the end of the mission it is mentioned that Lothair III died on the way back to the Empire. The resulting political vacuum is where the Barbarossa campaign begins.
  24. Captain Obvious: Your knight in Joan of Arc tells you "Ze bridge is out! We must find another way to Chinon!" after you can quite clearly see the bridge is out.

While intelligent, they are also not known to hold any particular religious belief.
    • Teutonic Knights are depicted in this game as heavily armoured infantry. They are slow moving, but hard to kill and will make mincemeat of other infantry units. The Conquerors introduces Mesoamerican maps with parrots, jaguars, turkeys, and javelinas as substitutes of hawks, wolves, sheep, and wild boars respectively. In The African Kingdoms, the new African maps replace the wolves and jaguars with lions and crocodiles, the deer with ostriches and zebras, the turkeys and sheep with goats, the boars with elephants, and the hawks and parrots with vultures and storks. Likewise, in the new Southeast Asian maps of The Rise of the Rajas, the predators are tigers and Komodo dragons, the large huntables are rhinoceroses, and the herdables are water buffaloes.
    • On the other hand, the deer most closely resemble Virginia deer (which as its name suggests, is actually an American species), the wild elephants are clearly Asian despite also appearing in Africa, the rhinos are African despite appearing only in Asia, zebras are not native to West Africa despite appearing there in the Sundjata campaign, and Komodo dragons only live in Flores and nearby islands (but smaller monitor lizards do live elsewhere).
    • The Saracen Mamluk, despite being named after Egyptian-based Turkic warriors, rides an Asian Bactrian camel. This choice was likely made so Mamluks would be recognizable when surrounded by other camel riders. Still, it is odd to see Mongols and Chinese using dromedaries only while the Saracens have Bactrian camels too.
    • The Persian war elephant is an African elephant (possibly of the now extinct North African species given its small size) when it should be Asian. Indian Elephant Archers in The Forgotten used to ride African elephants too because their sprites were recycled, but the HD version changed them to Asian elephants.
    • The Incas used to start every game with a turkey - a North American species. After the HD version, it is an appropriate llama instead.
    • The Prithviraj campaign has Prithvi tracking a man-eating tiger and finding that it's actually a lion. It's actually a renamed jaguar from The Conquerors. African Kingdoms later added actual lions and Rise of the Rajas, tigers. Prithvi also encounters brown bears in the same map.
    • Rhinos resembling the Sumatran rhino are huntable on all Southeast Asian maps including the Philippines where rhinos of any kind have not been seen since the Pleistocene.

Unless a civilization have access to Cannon Galleons, they will be lousy in water maps because of these issues combined with fortifications dealing effective damage to ships within their range.
    • Bombard Towers in Age of Kings deal melee damage, making them very effective against rams. This was changed to pierce damage in The Conquerors, resulting in Bombard Towers dealing pitiful damage to rams' high pierce armor.

    • Rams can be used as APCs to transport slower infantry units like the Teutonic Knight. Any infantry loaded into rams will also improve the ram's movement speed and damage. As of the Forgotten Empires expansion, villagers can also be loaded into rams to safely transport them to the front-lines.
    • Rams can also attack units. While not much of a threat to soldiers, they can destroy a scorpion or mangonel in one hit, and smash a trebuchet or bombard cannon frightfully fast.
      • This also leads to rams becoming a bit of a counter to archers in archers v archers fights. Without micro, AI archers will prioritize the closest unit. With its high pierce armor, and melee range the Ram can tank for a group of archers, allowing them to take out a much larger group of archer effortlessly, because they will focus fire on the ram to almost no effect.
    • Luring deer and boars to your town center started as this, but it's such a common strategy now that the updated learning campaign in the Definitive Edition includes it. Luring wolves (or bears, or tigers) to your enemy, however, is more likely going to come as a surprise.
    • As said in the What Could Have Been page, players were going to have the ability to build walls and towers on the sea for defence, but this ability was taken out when the developers saw playtesters using it in an offensive manner only, to wall off enemy docks and prevent them from building a navy.

Montezuma's campaign takes this a bit further - in one mission, a mysterious, unidentified voice grants the player's jaguar warriors tenfold hitpoints if a large enough group is delivered to a certain ruined temple.
  155. Ridiculously Fast Construction: Par for the course for Real-Time Strategy. For example, A villager can fill a gap in a town wall by starting construction on a new segment (read: hammering on the ground) for a few seconds, at which point the new wall will be strong enough to seriously impede regular enemy units. Even if it is only partially built, enemies will either have to spend a long time tearing the wall down (taking much more time than it took to construct) or rely on siege engines (only available Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack the Castle Age) to clear the way for them. Age of Empires is a series of historical real-time strategy video games, originally developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. The first game was Age of Empires, released in 1997. The games in the series focus on historical events throughout time. Age of Empires covers the events between the Stone Age and the Classical period, in Europe and Asia. Its expansion, The Rise of Rome, follows the formation and rise of the Roman Empire. The Age of Kings and its Nintendo DS spin-off follow Europe and Asia through the Middle Ages. The Age of Kings' expansion pack, The Conquerors, is set during the same period, but also includes scenarios about the Spanish conquest of Mexico, El Cid, and Attila the Hun. Age of Empires III and its first expansion, The WarChiefs, take place during the European colonization of the Americas. Age of Empires, released on October 26, 1997,[3] was the first game in the series, as well as the first major release from Ensemble Studios.[4] It was one of the first history-based real-time strategy games made,[5] utilizing the Geniegame engine. GameSpot described it as a mix of Civilization and Warcraft.[6] The game gives players a choice of 12 civilizations to develop from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. The expansion pack, Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack Rise of Rome, published by Microsoft on October 31, 1998, introduced new features and four new civilizations, including the Romans. Although the two games had contained many software bugs, patches resolved many of the problems.[7][8]

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, released on September 30, 1999, used the Genie game engine, and had gameplay similar to its predecessor.[18]Age of Kings is set in the Middle Ages, from the Dark Ages to the Imperial Age. It allows players to choose one of 13 civilizations, from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.[19]

On August 24, 2000, Microsoft published the expansion, The Conquerors. It added new units and five new civilizations, including two Mesoamerican civilizations: the Maya and the Aztec.[20]The Age of Kings was a bigger critical success than the first two games, with Game Rankings and Metacritic scores of 92%.[21][22] Microsoft shipped out more than two million copies to retailers, and the game received numerous awards and accolades.[23] Critics agreed that The Conquerors expanded well on The Age of Kings, though issues of unbalanced gameplay were raised.[24]The Age of Kings and The Conquerors won the 2000 and 2001 "Computer Strategy Game of the Year" awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, respectively.[25][26]

In April 2013, Age of Empires II: HD Edition was released on the Steamdigital distribution platform for Windows operating systems. The HD Edition includes both the original game and the expansion The Conquerors, as well as updated graphics for high-resolution displays.[27] Originally a fan-made modpack made for The Conquerors, Age of Empires II: The Forgotten was an unofficial expansion that added a new campaign, playable civilizations, maps, and quality of service updates. The Forgotten was later developed into an official expansion with SkyBox Labs and Forgotten Studios, and in November 2013 The Forgotten HD was released by Microsoft exclusively for the HD Edition on Steam.[28] A third expansion named The African Kingdoms was released by Microsoft in November 2015, also exclusively for the HD Edition.[29] A fourth expansion entitled Rise of the Rajas was released on 19 December 2016.[30] On August 21, 2017, Microsoft announced Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.[31]

In June 2019, Adam Isgreen, now the Franchise Creative Director for Age of Empires, shared more information regarding the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019. He confirmed that the Definitive Edition was being developed by Forgotten Empires, Tantalus Media, Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack, and Wicked Witch Software. Age of Empires III, released on October 18, 2005, was built on an improved version of the Age of Mythology game engine with the most significant changes being the updated graphics engine and the inclusion of the Havok physicsmiddleware engine.[36][37] The game is set in the period between 1421 and 1850, and players can choose one of eight European nations. The game introduced a large number of features, such as home cities. Described by Ensemble Studios as "an important support system to your efforts in the New World," home cities help provide the player with resources, equipment, troops, and upgrades. They can be used across multiple games, and upgraded after each Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack the feature was compared to a role-playing game character by Ensemble Studios.[38] The first expansion to Age of Empires III, The WarChiefs, was released October 17, 2006. Most gameplay changes in the expansion pack were small, but it introduced three new civilizations, with a focus on Native Americans.[39] Most notable was the introduction of the WarChief unit.[40] The second expansion, The Asian Dynasties, went on sale October 23, 2007. Several collectors' editions of Age of Empires III included a hardcover artbook. The last page of the artbook has a pictorial depiction of the series; the Roman numerals below each panel range from I to V, indicating the series would include an Age of Empires IV Lumion Free Pro Crack Archives Age of Empires V. Age of Empires IV[edit]

On August 21, 2017, Microsoft announced Age of Empires IV, developed by Relic Entertainment.[61] Microsoft's Executive Vice-President of Gaming, Phil Spencer, confirmed on June 11, 2019, that Age of Empires IV is still in development, with more information coming later in 2019.[62] On November 14, 2019, gameplay footage of Age of Empires IV was shown at the X019 event.[63] It showed medieval warfare between English and Mongol forces.[64][65]Age of Empires IV was Throttle 6.6.6.2005 crack serial keygen released on October 28, 2021,[1] with eight civilizations available at launch: the Abbasid Dynasty, the Chinese, the Delhi Sultanate, the Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack, the French, the Holy Roman Empire, the Mongols, and the Rus.[66] This title revisits the Middle Ages and incorporates several features and mechanics of Age of Empires II that were changed or removed in Age of Empires III.

Age of Mythology shared many elements of gameplay with the main series,[67] and was considered a part of the series, despite its different focus.[68][69] The campaign in Age of Mythology tells the story of an Atlantean, Arkantos, and his quest to find why his people are out of favor with Poseidon.[70] Microsoft published the game on October 30, 2002,[71] and its expansion, The Titans, on October 21, 2003.[72]The Titans featured the Atlanteans as a new civilization.[73] Its campaign is shorter than previous expansions, and centers on Kastor, son of Arkantos, who falls for the lies of the titans and frees them from Tartarus.[74]Age of Mythology sold more than one million units in four months.[75] It scored 89% on Game Rankings and Metacritic.[76][77]The Titans failed to equal the sales success of Age of Mythology, although critics rated it highly.[78][79]

Backbone Entertainment developed Age of Empires: The Age of Kings as a turn-based game for the Nintendo DS. Majesco Entertainment published the game on February 14, 2006. It is similar to other turn-based games, such as Advance Wars, but with a gameplay based on its PCcounterpart.[80]Age of Empires: The Age of Kings scored 80% on Game Rankings and Metacritic.[81][82]Konami brought a game of the same title to the PlayStation 2 around five years earlier than the DS version, but the game had little promotion, and sold poorly.[83]

On August 16, 2010, Microsoft announced Age of Empires Online, which was a free-to-play Games for Windows Live online game, it developed in collaboration with Robot Entertainment, Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack. It featured Free-to-play experiences via Games for Windows LIVE as well as: A persistent online capital city that lives and grows even when you're offline, Cooperative multiplayer quests, trading and a level-based system that lets you progress at your own pace.[84] Premium content could be earned or purchased, such as access to blueprints and special items, as well as more quests and features. On August 25, 2014, Age of Empires: Castle Siege was announced. It is a touch-based game developed by Smoking Gun Interactive. It was released on September 17, 2014 for the Windows PC and Windows Phone 8.[89][90]

Development[edit]

Historical elements[edit]

The development phases of the Age of Empires games were similar in several ways. Due to the games being based on historical events, the team often had to do large amounts of research.[91] However, the research was not in depth, which, according to Age of Empires designer Bruce Shelley, is "a good idea for most entertainment products."[91] Shelley also said that Ensemble Studios took most of the reference material from children's sections at libraries. He pointed out the goal was for the players of the game to have fun, "not [its] designers or researchers."[91] At the Games Convention Developers Conference in 2007, Shelley continued with this thought and explained that the success of the series laid in "making a game which appealed to both the casual and hardcore gamer."[92] Shelley also remarked the Age of Empires games were not about history in itself, but rather "about the human experience;"[92] they focused not simply on what humans had done but on what they could do in the future such as "going into space."[92] Ensemble Studios developed Age of Mythology in a different way than the previous two games. The team had worried they "couldn't get away" with a third historical-based game, and chose mythology as the setting after they had discussed several options.[93]

Artificial intelligence[edit]

The artificial intelligence (AI) used in the Age of Empires series has been developed and improved regularly by designers. AI specialist Dave Pottinger noted the development team gave the AI in the original game a very high priority, and spent over a Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack working on it. He said that the AI in the game relies on tactics and strategies to win, instead of "cheating" by giving bonus resources to itself, or tweaking its units to be stronger than normal.[94] Pottinger later noted that the Age of Empires series team took great pride in their AI playing a "fair game"[95] and didn't know what the player was doing and had to play by the same rules as its human opponents.[96]

Age of Empires allows players to choose to play either along specialized, story-backed conditions or as individual battles against the AI (and other players). Choosing to battle against the AI – rather than following the storyline – allows the AI to adapt to players' strategies and even remember which games it won and lost. The AI eventually overcomes players' strategies and easily destroys their villages after several games. For instance, in Age of Empires III, this is referred to as playing a "Skirmish." However Age of Empires III allows players to refine their strategies further against the AI by "Building a Deck," which allows players to replace "Home City" shipments with improved alternatives.

In Age of Empires II: The Conquerors the AI was given a high priority, the result being the "smart villager" feature, which was included in subsequent games of the series. After building a structure that stores or produces resources, smart villagers would proceed to collect resources related to the structure, such as crops from farms or ore from exposed deposits.[97]

Age of Mythology: The Titans lets players use an AI debugger when creating custom scenarios; players can change the settings of computer players and make them act according to certain patterns.[98] More basic changes to the AI had previously been available in the series' first two games.[99]

Graphics and visuals[edit]

The graphics and visuals of Age of Empires improved with each successive release. From the original release to the second, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, noteworthy improvements gained praise from several critics.[100][101][102] With the release of Age of Mythology the praise continued,[100][103][104][105] and Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack fourth release, Age of Empires III, garnered even more.[106][107][108]

GameSpot praised the improved graphics[100] in the second release, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings.Eurogamer welcomed its introduction of female villagers[109] as compared with the original male only version. Allgame praised the advanced grouping and path-finding systems in the second release.[101] Despite the improved graphics, Allgame complained that units in Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings were at times difficult to distinguish from one another,[101] a point numerous reviewers agreed on.[100][110] Nevertheless, Game Revolution wrote that the second release was "the best looking of the 2D RTS games out there right now."[102]

The graphics continued to improve in Age of Mythology and was praised by a majority of reviewers. IGN ranked the graphics in this third release, "a joy to watch . awesome."[103] GameSpot assented, also rating the graphics a 9 out of 10.[100] Game Revolution agreed,[104] and PC Gamer stated that the graphics in the third release "are packed with detail."[105]

The trend in improved graphics continued well into the next release, Age of Empires III, much to the delight of reviewers. GameSpot also admired the graphics in the fourth release but complained about "the awkward unit behavior."[113] Other graphical features of the game include bloom lighting and support for pixel shader 3.0.[114]

GameSpy awarded Age of Empires III the "Best Graphics" award at GameSpy's "Game of the Year 2005."[115]

Music[edit]

Stephen Rippy has been the series' music director since the first game. He has had occasional help from his brother, David Rippy, as well as Kevin McMullan.[116] He created the original music in Age of Empires with sounds of instruments from the periods in the game.[117] These sounds came from actual instruments, and their digital samples.[117] The tunes were the result of extensive research on the cultures, styles, and instruments used.[117] Rippy said that sound development on The Age of Kings was easy, since there was knowledge of the instruments used in the Middle Ages. Therefore, they were able to reproduce the tunes for the soundtrack of the game.[118] In Age of Mythology, an orchestral instrumentation was used, instead. According to McMullan, the team also collected large numbers of audio recordings from zoos, and created "a massive sound library of [their] own material."[119] The music of Age of Empires III was similar to The Age of Kings, in which the team used more historical instruments; Rippy noted the team used instruments such as "bagpipes and field drums" to give it a realistic feel.[116]

Collaboration[edit]

Ensemble Studios worked together with Big Huge Games to develop The Asian Dynasties, Age of Empires III's second expansion. This was the first joint venture for both teams. The reason for them doing so was compatible schedules: Ensemble Studios was busy with other projects—particularly Halo Wars—while Big Huge Games' real-time strategy team had few projects at that time. Big Huge Games did most of the work, but Ensemble Studios designers Greg Street and Sandy Petersen joined in the brainstorming, and had control over the final product.[120] Both studios had roles in testing the game before its release.[121]

Reception and legacy[edit]

The Age of Empires series has been a commercial success. As of 2008, five of its games have each sold more than one million copies. According to Gamasutra, Age of Empires had sold more than three million copies, and The Rise of Rome sold one million copies as of 2000.[11] Around the same time, Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack, Microsoft announced that they shipped over two million copies of The Age of Kings.[23] In 2003, Microsoft announced the sales of one million copies for Age of Mythology.[75] By 2004—prior to the release of Age of Empires III—the Age of Empires franchise had sold over 15 million copies.[138] On May 18, 2007, Ensemble Studios announced that two million copies of Age of Empires III had been sold.[44] Games in the series have consistently scored highly on video game review aggregator websites GameRankings and Metacritic, which collect data from numerous review websites. As noted in the adjacent table, the highest rating game is Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, receiving a 92% score from both sites.[21][22]

Critics have credited Age of Empires for influencing real-time strategy (RTS) games such as Rise of Nations, Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack, Empire Earth, and Cossacks.[139][140]Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds was also influenced by the series: it utilized the Geniegame engine, as Age of Empires and Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings had, and was considered by critics to be a very close replica to the games; IGN began their review with the statement "I love Age of Star Wars, I mean Star Empires. Whatever it's called, I dig it."[141] and GameSpot wrote that "fundamentals of the Age of Empires II engine are so intact in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds that veterans of that game can jump right in."[142] In October 2005, Shelley commented on the impact of the series. In a GameSpy interview, he explained that parents would "tell Ensemble Studios that their kid is reading books about ancient Greece because they enjoy playing with the triremes so much, or that they want to check out books about medieval history because [the] game taught them what a trebuchet was."[143]

Shelley has said that the key to the success of the games was its innovation, rather than imitation of its peers. He also claimed the unique elements in the games "helped establish the reputation of Ensemble Studios as masters of the real-time strategy genre."[144] Mark Bozon of IGN wrote in his review of The Age of Kings, "The Age of Empires series has been one of the most innovative real-time strategy games for PC in the last decade or so."[145] Gamenikki called Ensemble Studios "the developer that started it all" when they talked about how much Age of Empires III had done to advance the real-time strategy genre.[146] Shelley has acknowledged the success and innovation of Age of Empires helped to ensure Ensemble survive its early periods since startup.[147] In 2005, Shelley complained of critics holding an "innovation bias" against the series; citing the 60% score from Computer Gaming World, he said that despite Age of Empires III being "perhaps the best selling PC game in the world", reviewers expected "something really new", and rated it harshly.[148]

Bungie chose Ensemble Studios to develop Halo Wars, an RTS game based on their Halo series. They said that one of the reasons they chose to work with Ensemble was because of the Age of Empires series.[149] They also noted that Ensemble was the perfect choice "to realize the original vision of Halo", which started life as an RTS.[149]

Age of Empires II The Conquerors Download Free Full Game (sometimes abbreviated to AoC or AoK: TC) is the first expansion pack to the 1999 real-time strategy game Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. The Conquerors is the fourth installment in the Age of Empires series by Microsoft Game Studios and Ensemble Studios. It features five new civilizations (the Aztecs, Mayans, Spanish, Koreans, and Huns), four new campaigns, eleven new units, twenty-six new technologies, new gameplay modes, new maps and different minor tweaks to the gameplay.

A second expansion, the semi-official The Forgotten, was released exclusively on Steam in Fall 2013, over a decade since the release of The Conquerors.

Gameplay changes

The Conquerors also introduced various new gameplay features and tweaks, including the new game modes Defend the Wonder, King of the Hill and Wonder Race. Additional maps, some based on real life geographic locations, and new winter and tropical terrain textures were included. In-game, infantry are able to garrison in battering rams, protecting the infantry while increasing the ram's speed and attack, while ships are able to form formations for more effective fighting. The graphics are left unchanged, but new civilizations have been added such as the Spanish, Huns, Koreans, Mayans and Aztecs. Micromanagement is made easier, by an improved scripted Artificial Intelligence of villagers and siege weapons. Villagers will now automatically commence gathering resources if they build resource gathering sites. Wall construction has also been improved: when assigning two or more villagers, they evenly spread out instead of working on the same patch, and when multiple farmers are sent on one farm, the surplus will start cultivating adjacent farms instead of idling. Mangonels and onagers will not automatically fire if their attack is likely to harm friendly units. Additionally, a button was added to the mill, which would allow farms to be paid for in advance, so that when an existing one was exhausted, it would automatically be replanted. Chat commands are introduced, in order to communicate more effectively with allied computer players.

Campaigns

The Conquerors adds four additional single player campaigns. These are based on Attila the Hun's rise to power, Montezuma's defense against Hernán Cortés, and the adventures of El Cid. The fourth campaign, «Battles of the Conquerors», is actually a group of unrelated single scenarios, each based on a significant historical battle. These include the Battle of Tours, the saga of Erik the Red, the Battle of Hastings, the Battle of Manzikert, the Battle of Agincourt, the Battle of Lepanto, the Battle of Yamazaki, and the Battle of Noryang.

Online play

Patches

1.0c was the final official patch by Ensemble Studios, it fixed many bugs and balanced Age Of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion Full Crack. Before 1.0b bombard towers were able to defeat armies of rams easily; after 1.0b and 1.0c, cavalry archers and bombard towers were balanced to be less powerful. The graphics of the armored Korean «turtle ship» were modified as well.

Civilizations

Five additional playable civilizations come with The Conquerors, including the Aztecs and Mayans, who share a newly created American architectural style:

The Aztecs and Mayans completely lack the ability to train cavalry units. This is partially balanced by the fact that they start with Eagle Warrior infantry units, who have many of the advantages that cavalry have. Both civilizations also lack access to gunpowder units. The Huns are also unique in that they do not build houses to support their population, from the start being only limited by the fixed population limit of the game.

«The Conquerors» introduces twelve additional units to «Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings»:

  • Halberdier (an upgrade to Pikeman).
  • Hussar (an upgrade to Light Cavalry).
  • Petard (one-use exploding siege unit).
  • Eagle Warrior & Elite Eagle Warrior (fast-moving infantry, resistant to monk conversion).

  • Jaguar Warrior & Elite Jaguar Warrior (strong infantry, unique to the Aztecs).
  • Plumed Archer & Elite Plumed Archer (foot archer, unique to the Mayans).
  • War Wagon & Elite War Wagon (heavily armored ranged cavalry, unique to the Koreans).
  • Turtle Ship & Elite Turtle Ship (heavily armored, short-ranged cannon ship, unique to the Koreans).
  • Conquistador & Elite Conquistador (mounted gunpowder unit, unique to the Spanish).
  • Missionary (mounted monk that cannot carry relics, unique to the Spanish).
  • Tarkan & Elite Tarkan (anti-building cavalry, unique to the Huns).

Others

  • Bleda The Hun (A unit available only in map editor and in the first mission of Attila the Hun).
  • Genitour & Elite Genitour (A Light Cavalry Skirmisher, available only in map editor. It was intended to be the Spanish unique unit, but was replaced by Conquistador).
